vacation!

Pictures from my trip to Auburn/Tahoe, shamelessly stolen from James (who took most of them), but edited by yours truly.

Where I grew up

One of my best friends from high school who was pregnant last time I saw her and had her baby in June. Welcome baby Jade!

Friends in my back yard. They look cute and nice, but they eat EVERYTHING.

The obligitory Claude Chana picture. Auburn is known for it's affiliations with the Gold Rush.

My brother and I overlooking Donner Lake. Hungry, anyone?

James stitched this of Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe where we swam and snorkeled.

The view from our condo we all stayed at (and where we saw a bear!)

Tahoe

Reno

We got side tracked by this giant billboard James saw for Cabela's and he made me find it. When I did, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It's basically this giant warehouse filled with outdoorsy stuff like hunting, camping, fishing and the like. This is James in his natural habitat (for the sake of the picture, we'll ignore that it's Cabela's and call it Helena, Montana).

I very nervously held my first gun EVER and decided I didn't really like it, and it needed a feminine touch.

We went kayaking. It was overcast and chilly,

but that was a better combination than hot and miserable.
From No Hands Bridge in Auburn. The Foresthill Bridge is in the background, way up high.

on No Hands Bridge with my dog.

All in all, a great trip to end a great summer. :)

new house!

i haven't dropped off the face of the planet. i moved into a house that needs lots of updating and went on... a vacation!

pictures to come later, as they're all on a different computer, but i moved into a nice big four bedroom house and currently have one roommate (anyone need a place to live?). the wallpaper is from 1960, which is awesome(ly bad) and so we've basically spent every waking moment steaming off wallpaper, painting, buying things for the house, sleeping on the floor in the living room, and living out of suitcases. It's kind of like camping, OC style. did I mention that there are no overhead lights in ANY part of the house (minus the kitchen and dining room)? candlelight and lamps is how we do it!

But for real, I'm ready to be unpacked. And to feed my bank account, because it's been 2 weeks and between the two of us, haved poured nearly $2000 into fixing it (half was painting) and replacing things that should have been replaced and we haven't even paid rent yet. but once it's done and we're unpacked, it's going to be the most awesome house around. i should start a business, "how to furnish an entire house from craigslist for cheap and/or free." i'd make a lot of money. and no, you can't steal my idea. I'll let you in on a little secret... we moved in with almost no furniture (both have beds and i have a small dresser, but that's it) and minus some living room furniture (anyone have a free green, brown, or white couch and a coffee table?), it's pretty well furnished by this point. woo!

pictures to come! and you can see the AWESOME(ly bad) wallpaper for yourself (i, for one, will NEVER EVER put wallpaper up anywhere i live, ever, soley for the fact that it is a PROCESS to get off. words of wisdom, right there) :)
